Channel Nine’s Beauty and the Geek finished off its disappointing season with a win in the overnight ratings.

The finale for the feel-good dating show was Wednesday’s most watched entertainment program, attracting 537,000 viewers.

Meanwhile, Seven’s coverage of the Commonwealth Games dominated all rivals.

The athletic action in Birmingham drew an impressive 713,000 viewers in the evening slot for the network in the overnight metro ratings.

The Chase Australia, meanwhile, gave Seven something else to cheer about. The under-celebrated quiz show is a consistent winner for the network.

On Wednesday, it managed 494,000 viewers in the major centers.

Fan favorite Shaun Micallef is starring in two shows at the moment, but only one of them is shining.

His long-running political news satire sketch program Mad as Hell pulled in a strong audience of 453,000 fans for the ABC.

However, his school quiz show Shaun Micallef’s Brain Eisteddfod on Channel 10 is shedding viewers.

It only managed to pull in a very poor 270,000 fans across the metro ratings.

There was more bad news for Channel 10 with The Project.

The news and current affairs panel show has struggled all year but the Commonwealth Games coverage is making things worse.

It managed just 312,000 viewers for its 7pm slot in the metro ratings.

Overall Channel Seven won the night, with a huge 37.3 per cent of the audience share. Channel Nine came in second with an audience share of 27.4 per cent.
